Yeah, I guess it's Father's Day. Dad wants to play with cars!

I need to install shocks and a swaybar on my NB. Could do it myself, but a lot of people keep asking about how to do suspension, so I thought I'd open it up. Come watch, help, heckle, whatever.

I have plenty of space if anyone else has any minor stuff to do. Could do another suspension, brakes, fluid changes, whatever. Getting a late start this time, so don't want to get into anything complicated like a TB/WP or clutch. I'm not cooking this time, but we can step out for some cheap Mexican or Cuban or something when we're done.

Let me know if you're coming, and if you have anything you need to do!

When: June 15 2:00pm until around 6:00pm
Where: My place in Safety Harbor (PM me if you need the address)

Who & What:
  • Loren - Shocks & Front swaybar
  • Joe Brannon - Help/Watch
  • Chad Myers - Help/Watch
  • Evan - Help/Watch
  • Johnny - Timing Belt (maybe)

I have a new Quick Trick alignment tool kit to put everything back together in its proper spot. That could help out with the complete package. I may be able to swing by.

Cool. I was gonna just slap it together and deal with the alignment later.

I really want to come and help/ gain knowledge, so I am trying to figure out if I can swing by.

Wish I had ordered my stinkin shocks already! My procrastination strikes again.

Thanks, guys. Anybody else? Any of the "maybes"?

Anybody got anything other work to do? I'm gonna be up to my hat in autocross tomorrow, so I'd like to get a handle on things today. If there's anything to get a handle on.

What I need to do is pretty straightforward. First, I need to spend 15-20 minutes putting the crankshaft pulley back on and properly torquing it so that the car can be driven until I get around to doing the timing belt. Then we can dive into the shocks. Shocks are easy, and if we hit any snags, I'm okay with just finishing the front and doing the rear later. So, should be a nice relaxing day of wrenching.

My parts came in the mail so I might wait until Sunday afternoon to put them in. It's just a timing belt and front main seal.

I'm about to do my front main seal now because I need to go hang out with family it seems. I can't hang out, but it wouldn't be too far out of the way to drop off the alignment kit on my way up to Trinity.

Good day, today. Got the crank nose reassembled with a "new" pulley boss from Fred's dead engine. No pulley wobble, yay! Lots of oil leaking, though.

We got the Konis installed without issue, but didn't quite finish before everyone had to leave. I literally had to install ONE swaybar bolt and put the wheels back on after Joe left at around 7:00. Took a short test drive with the shocks set full soft. It was better, but not "all that". I stopped and adjusted each shock 1/2 turn stiffer. The clouds parted, the sun shone, the angles sang, yadda yadda.

Thanks for the help, Josh, Evan & Chad (and I've already forgotten his wife's name, I suck)! If you've not met Chad yet, he's pretty handy with a wrench. =D>

Ben even made a special guest appearance. 8)

Not too shabby for a short-notice tech session.
