Just moved from Jacksonville, and I'm happy to find other Miata enthusiasts. I purchased a 2004 MSM in excellent condition a year ago and have been enjoying upgrading and driving it. I have installed an FM full intake, upgraded the interior a little and done a lot of maintenance. Next up is installing Megasquirt, so I can have it running better and prepare for some increase in power. Look forward to getting together for some fun rides, autocross and someday drive it on a track.

Cool! I autocrossed a MSM for 11 years. It was a hoot. :)

Muddy what do you recommend to prep the car for autocross? Pads and brake fluid?

Thanks for your feedback.

Welcome!

The most important prep for autocross is pre-registration! Many of us run locally with drivefast.org.

Thanks for your feedback.

Any decent sport brake pad will do. Same with fluid. Experience and tires are the most important items you need for autox, imo.

Stock pads are fine for autocross. You're not really going to get the brakes hot on a 45-second autocross run.

Read all of the pages in the "Novice Tips" section of the FAST website. That should ease your mind.

Thanks, Loren. I took a look at the website last night. Will make sure to read the "Novice Tips". I'm thinking of doing the open event in November when it's cooler. Should have my Megasquirt tune working well by then.

In the words of every person who has ever put off doing their first autocross: "Why didn't I do this sooner?"

I second that emotion! No point in waiting. Sign up for the next event. You won't regret it, says the guy who autocrossed for 17 years, then bought a WRX and found other things to do with his time and money.

Welcome to TBM from Sarasota.

Best thing you can do to prep for an autocross is register and follow Loren's advice!
